In just over a decade, DevOps has become the de facto standard way of working for companies worldwide, whether they are currently practicing the principles on a daily basis or continuing to adopt them. A key challenge is measuring progress during DevOps evolution is access to the metrics that prove improvement and, as DevOps toolchains become increasingly complex, it becomes harder to gain actionable insights. The emerging tools category as coined by industry analyst, Forrester, of Value Stream Management, supercharges DevOps implementations through flow analysis and providing transparency from idea to value realization. Combining Value Stream Mapping with Value Stream Management techniques gives teams the capability to constantly and consistently inspect the value impact of experiments and adapt (pivot or persevere) accordingly.

In this talk, Helen will explore the origins of Value Stream Management and show how organizations use these capabilities today to accelerate their transition from old, project-based working approaches, to new, product and value stream centric ways of working.
